Livingston Brings Community Together at Annual Light Up a Life Events
This year, we were privileged to host two “Light Up a Life” events. On December 2nd, in the charming setting of Oxnard’s Heritage Square, over 75 guests gathered for a heartwarming tree lighting and remembrance ceremony, honoring the memories of their loved ones. A week later, on December 9th, we continued the tradition in the beautiful setting of Constitution Park in Camarillo, where more than 125 guests participated in a moving, symbolic candle-lighting ceremony.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for these special occasions. Laura McAvoy, Livingston Board Chair, extended a heartfelt welcome at both events. Julie Tumamait-Stenslie, a revered local Chumash elder, offered a peaceful reflection and blessing. Additionally, grief counselors from Livingston’s Grief & Bereavement services presented a touching “Remembrance” segment, celebrating the enduring love and influence of those we hold dear. The events also included a special tribute to fallen soldiers and veterans. The events were further brightened by the holiday songs performed by students from Sierra Linda Elementary, who also lent a hand in the Tree Lighting ceremony.

We are immensely grateful to our loyal supporters, sponsors, and volunteers, whose dedication and support were instrumental in making these events not just possible, but deeply meaningful. A special thanks to 1901 Restaurant, Seasons Catering, and Heritage Coffee for providing refreshments for our Oxnard Light Up event. This year, over $118,000 was raised to support Livingston’s compassionate hospice and grief & bereavement programs through tributes and sponsorships honoring loved ones. This outpouring of support and love humbles us.
